The Situation Of Barcelona Flop Malcom

One of the biggest transfer sagas in Europe this summer saw the Brazilian winger Malcom joining Barcelona from Bordeaux for a reported fee of €41 million.

After an impressive Ligue 1 campaign with the Girondins, the left-footed forward has invited attention towards his burgeoning talent, with numerous notable European clubs fought to secure his services, including AS Roma and the Blaugrana.

The promising youngster who was one step away from becoming the new Giallorossi player, has opted to change his direction, ending up at Camp Nou all of a sudden.

A decision to join the Catalan giants has proved to be one of the worst choices he could’ve made. Not only Malcom failed to establish himself as a regular first-team member under Ernesto Valverde, but he barely managed to register a total of 82 minutes in the Spanish top flight so far.

Although he made an instant impact against Inter Milan in the Champions League by scoring a goal after entering the field a few moments earlier, the pacey winger still struggles to impose himself next to the likes of Messi, Coutinho, Dembele, and Luis Suarez.

Desperately trying to revive his career and regain self-confidence, the former Corinthians man might leave Barcelona in the upcoming transfer session.

Several major European clubs have shown their interest in Malcom, having already expressed their willingness to offer him an escape route.

Arsenal and Inter Milan are reportedly the leading candidates to land the ex-Bordeaux star, with both sides frantically working to reinforce their attacking departments.

Although some recent reports suggested Roma could take advantage of the situation to finalize what they’ve started during the summer, the Giallorossi have already rejected such claims.

With just two months left before the January transfer session begins, Malcom has to find a way to convince Valverde if looking to prolong his career with Barcelona.

On the other hand, the current La Liga holders are reluctant to renounce their expensive acquisition without a substantial compensation fee.

Therefore, all interested parties will have to match €41 million Barca spent to lure Malcom away from the Matmut Atlantique.
